The Best Budget PS5 4K TVs Available in the UK in 2021:

If like me, you managed to nab yourself a PS5 or PS5 pre-order, you might be now sat staring at the telly box thinking you need an upgrade to experience the full power of your new purchase.

But, wait a second. You’ve just forked out £350-£450, plus games and accessories on the most anticipated piece of tech of the year. You want a PS5 ready 4K TV, but you don’t want to break the bank. Cue the mass searches for “budget PS5 TV“.

Well I; The Film Fella have decided to take this into my own hands and help, since I too felt your pain.

First off, what do I mean by PS5 ready? And what is it you need to look for? Simply put, a cheap PS5 ready 4K TV needs to have some of the following features:

  • HMDI 2.1
  • 120Hz frame rate (HDMI 2.1 allows this)
  • VRR (Freesync)
  • Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM)
  • Enhanced audio Return Channel (eARC)
  • Quick Media Switching
  • Dynamic HDR
  • Quick Frame Transport

The key features you want, will be HDMI 2.1 and the ability to have a 120Hz frame rate experience. These are NOT mutually exclusive and it is where the difficulty in purchasing comes from. Not all HDMI 2.1 TVs can run at 120Hz frame rate. Some of the other features mentioned will be standard with these key ones on cheaper 4K TVs, but some may not have everything, so just bear that in mind.

With all that of the way, here are some of the best budget PS5 ready 4K TVs you can buy right now in the UK in 2021.

The Film Fella's Top Pick

The Cheapest PS5 Ready 4K TV Right Now: LG Nano86 49” 4K NanoCell

  • Refresh Rate: 120Hz
  • HDMI 2.1: Yes
  • Larger Sizes Available: Yes
  • Screen Tech: NanoCell
  • Sound: Dolby Atmos & eARC
  • Features: Low Input Lag, VRR & ALLM
  • FreeSync: Yes
  • PS5 Ready: Yes with Gaming Mode

Summary: If you want the cheapest PS5 ready 4K TV in 2021, then this is currently your best option. I own this TV and haven’t regretted my decision one bit! NanoCell technology is pretty much LGs alternative to Samsungs QLED and is a cheaper alternative to the top end OLED range they currently have.

The Mid Range Option: Samsung Q80T 49" 4K QLED

  • Refresh Rate: 120Hz
  • HDMI 2.1: Yes
  • Larger Sizes Available: Yes
  • Screen Tech: QLED
  • Sound: Object Tracking (OTS)
  • Features: VRR & Near bezel-less screen
  • FreeSync: Yes
  • PS5 Ready: Yes with Gaming Mode

Summary: A little bit pricier than the LG Nano, but this is the mid range top end spec available from rivals Samsung. The AI driven OTS feature comes from six built in speakers to match sounds with actions (perfect for gaming), all without the need for a soundbar!

This is the perfect budget alternative to a top end OLED TV.

Smaller Option: Panasonic HX800 40” LED

  • Refresh Rate: 60Hz
  • HDMI 2.1: Yes (when PS5 is plugged in)
  • Larger Sizes Available: Yes
  • Screen Tech: LED & Dolby Vision
  • Sound: Dolby Atmos & eARC
  • Features: Screen Dimming & ALLM
  • PS5 Ready: Yes, via auto-switch feature

Summary: If you want most of the features in a smaller package, the Panasonic HX800 40 inch may be your best bet. Offering Dolby Vision & Atmos this may be the perfect bedroom next gen gaming TV available right now. Sadly, it does not support 120Hz as a refresh rate, but at 60Hz for a small 4K TV this isn’t too bad.

The game mode is automatically switched to, using the ALLM feature when a console that supports it is plugged in (such as a PS5 or Xbox Series X).

Hopefully this has helped you in your quest for a budget PS5 TV, that you can pick up here in the UK. Of course all of these options will also work for the new Xbox Series X console too. Be sure to shop around for the best prices and check out deals on this years Black Friday!
